World Tuberculosis Day March 24, 2016

The World Tuberculosis Day takes place on March 24, 2016. It is a day to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate the disease. The day is observed annually and commemorates the day in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch astounded the scientific community by announcing that he had discovered the cause of tuberculosis, the TB bacillus. In the U.S., the theme of World TB Day 2016 is “End TB.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its domestic and international partners, including the National TB Controllers Association, Stop TB USA, and the global Stop TB Partnership are working together to eliminate this deadly disease.
